Artist and sculptor Layl McDill has been creating whimsical polymer clay sculptures and wall pieces for the past 15 years. Her distinctive sculptures can be found in numerous books and publications as well as at art festivals throughout the region. In order to create the unique millefiore patterns that are a hallmark of her work, Layl carefully assembles colorful polymer clay canes that, when stretched out and sliced, reveal the tiny images that are featured in her sculptures. Layl and her husband, artist Josh Blanc, own and operate Clay Squared to Infinity, a studio/showroom in Northeast Minneapolis, where they sell their work and teach polymer clay classes. Layl holds a bachelor’s degree in illustration from Columbus College of Art and Design and currently resides in Minneapolis.
